Last week, we started working with integers, both positive and negative numbers, and it was a struggle from the start. However, since then, we gave covered a lot of ground. So much that, today, we were actually learning how to add and subtract positive and negative fractions. I’m going to throw this one out at you parents, take a look at this problem. See if you can think back to your schools days and solve this! I promise, it’s not easy. This is not 4th and 5th grade math we are doing here! It’s the end of the school year! I think a challenge is necessary! This is something that your kids probably will not see again until they are in 7th or 8th grade! The incredible thing is… they can do it! They know the steps, they have the skills, and most importantly, they know why negatives and positives work the way that they do. I’m so proud of them for pushing themselves even though there is so little time left! Now, see if you can challenge yourself!
